Before sharing my night routine, I would like to talk about my personal experience with sleep.
For the earliest memory which I could remember, sleeping has always been a big issue for me. It takes hours for me to fall asleep, stay asleep and I would say it’s a miracle if I wake up not feeling tired. Sonner enough, I start to realize how important sleep is. It reflects upon our emotional status, things that make us struggle when we are awake, may come to us during sleep.
If you also have serious sleeping problems like me before, I highly recommend you to also seek for professional help as our sleeping patterns may reflect much more upon our emotional and health status.
So now, let’s talk about the special recipe I have, on how to get better sleep.
[Step 1. Meditation]
To keep your mind empty
CALM APP
Meditation is definitely a super effective tool when it comes to falling asleep faster. To me, it works much better than sleeping pills! It’s not necessary to use an app for this, you can also do this by controlling your breathing patterns, listening to calm music, and trying out yoga before you sleep. All to make the result in keeping your mind empty.
App Results:
I would say that this is a great app to invest in if you have daily sleeping problems. Apart from the sleeping stories, the meditation on achieving deeper sleep has helped me in falling asleep within 10 minutes (which is totally impossible for me before!). The only downside of this is that the annual subscription is quite expensive, but worth it if you need to use it on a daily basis.
[Step 2. Sleeping pill]
PERRICONE MD: SLEEP BOOSTER
How to use:
Take one pill shortly before sleep.
Results:
I tend to fall asleep slightly faster when taking this sleeping booster, and my sleep quality improves as well. It is my go-to step before trying out meditation, now I personally think that meditation works much better than taking sleeping pills.
Comments:
The great thing about this pill is that it’s natural. Comparing to other sleeping pills, there is no need to worry about the side effects that sleeping pills can give, and you won’t get addicted to relying on it for sleeping.
[Step 3. Eyemask]
Iluminage: anti-aging silk eye mask
Results:
This silk eye masks’ major selling point is to reduce your eye wrinkles naturally. To me, the texture feels much better than using normal cotton eye masks. I don’t know if it’s just my feeling, but I do realize that my under eye wrinkles have reduced a bit after using this eye mask.
Comments:
I would recommend this eyemask if cotton eyemasks don’t work as well for you. The only downside of this mask is that the light still shines through the bottom part of the eye mask. This can be a little struggle for someone super sensitive to light like me, but not much of a big deal.
[Step 4. Hair mask]
SILK HAIR CAP
How to use:
Place your hair in the hair cap, but I would recommend to leave it above your bangs if you have any. (You’ll know why after waking up in the morning...)
Results:
Reduces hair fizziness and improves hair quality
Comments:
I personally think silk hair masks works great for someone who have frizzy hair like me, and difficult to comb through in the morning. It helped keeping my hair style in shape during the night, so I won’t take much time in styling it when I’m rushing to school in the morning. Any silk hair cap brands can do, which you can find in Hong Kong’s log-on stores or Japan’s drug stores.
